the 139grs Sintox load shot the best groups and felt very comfortable. This will be my load! Also nicely to shoot was the new Hexagon. But due to the hollow point, reloads are not so good as with the 139grs RN bullet. Also precise was the 115grs RN. But very hard and snappy to shoot.

Additional to the factory loads, I’ve also tried a first handload: the 139grs Geco RN bullet, 4,5grs Reload Swiss RS20 and Federal 100. OAL 29,5mm. Unfortunately, the load was a little bit to weak and I need to add some more powder. But the precision was already very promising!

I’m VERY curious how it’ll work and how I’ll get along with the new material. Got the first batch of Reload Swiss Powders! I’m very curious, how they’ll perform in my loads! Hope, that I can find some time in the christmas holidays now, to develop some nice loads… 🙂

 

They hadn`t as much “gimmicks” as usually, but in my opinion, that wasn’t a drawbach at all – the match was more “sportive” and I liked it very much! The stages had all you want to see – high speed target arrays at short distance, small plates and poppers at a distance, athletics etc. – in one word – Great! That I could win it also was, of course, a nice “extra” 🙂

Luckily, in the last year, the Nitrochemie AG, a swiss tradition powder company forced their activities in reloading powder for sports. They are offering now a wide range of powders for nearly all calibers and applications. First tests were promising, so I´ve contacted them and we aggreed on a collaboration. I’m very happy with this and I’m sure, that I can devellop some good working loads!

Beside me, there are also Christine Burkhalter, Dominic Meier, Birgit Gruber, Nils Nothnagel, Gerald Reiter and Peter Heller in the Team Reload Swiss – all of them are Top-shooters in their divisions, so I think, we’ll have a pretty good exchange of experiences between the factory and the sports! Nach der DM Rifle bekam ich die Gelegenheit, den neuen 986 von Smith&Wesson in Zusammenarbeit mit Caliber zu testen. Ein 7-Schüssiger 9mm Revolver auf L-Rahmenbasis mit 5 Zoll Lauf, Titantrommel etc. Ich nahm die Gelegenheit war, den Revolver gleich im Match zu testen – da in Production alle Smith&Wesson Revolver bis 5 Zoll Lauflänge zugelassen sind, konnte ich hier die DM Production ideal nutzen. Natürlich ist man mit 7 Schuss im Revolver nicht wirklich gegen 15-schüssige Pistolen  konkurrenzfähig, aber ich wollte einfach mal sehen, “was denn so geht” 😉 Was gegangen ist, zeigt die Liste:

Kurz darauf wurde es dann ernst – die DM Revolver stand an. Ein ganz wichtiges Match – galt es doch den Titel zu verteidigen und die Serie von bisher 5 Titeln in Folge (8 insgesamt) weiter fortzuführen. Insgesamt waren 40 Revolverschützen, darunter auch erfreulicherweise mehrere internationale Schützen, am Start. Ich hatte einen guten Tag erwischt und konnte mich so auch dieses Mal wieder durchsetzen und die Presidents Medal in Empfang nehmen. Titel Nummer 9! Ob es nächstes Jahr wieder gelingt? Wir werden sehen…

Nach der DM war ein Monat Pause, danach ging es dann Schlag auf Schlag – zuerst der Hexentanz, dann die Geco Masters und zuletzt die Landesmeisterschaft LV5&7. Alles Level III Matche und wichtige Vorbereitung auf die WM. Beim Hexentanz lief es gut – ich musste wegen Terminproblemen im Prematch schiessen, das leider mächtig “ins Wasser fiel”. Es regnete in strömen und die Stages standen teilweise knöcheltief unter Wasser. Aber trotz allem schoss ich solide und konnte so auch diese Presidents Medal mit nach Hause nehmen!

Gleich das Wochenende darauf standen die Geco Masters an. Hier waren nur 7 Revolverschützen gemeldet, somit kam keine Level III Wertung zu stande. Ideal, um das Match als Test für den Ersatzrevolver zu nutzen. Leider machte dieser schon reichlich Probleme, weshalb mehrere Besuche bei Karl Hamann notwendig waren. Es zeigte sich, das ich mit dem Abzug, so wie ihn Karl eingestellt hatte, nicht gut zurechtkam. Karl hatte den Abzug so eingestellt, daß er sehr früh in der Rast stand, dann aber noch ein – für mich – recht weiter Weg zu überwinden war, bis der Hammer fiel. Der Abzug war gut – keine Frage, aber eben nicht für mich. Ich bin eigentlich stationsfreie Abzüge gewohnt und so hatte ich mehrere “short strokes” und dadurch, daß ich den DA zu leicht einjustiert hatte, auch mehrere Zündversager. Das kostete mich insgesamt einige Punkte. Viel schlimmer wogen aber zwei kapitale Fehler, die mir eigentlich nicht passieren sollten, aber eben doch passierten: auf einer 12 Schuss Ãœbung hatte ich beim Walkthrough eine Scheibe doppelt eingeplant (sie war aus zwei Positionen zu sehen) – was mir aber nicht auffiel. Als im Wertungsdurchgang aber auf der zweiten Position schon Löcher in der Scheibe waren, brachte mich das komplett aus dem Konzept. Auf der Stage verlor ich alleine 34 Punkte! Danach kam gleich die zweite miese – ein weiterer Speedy mit 12 Schuss, der auch gleich noch so richtig in die Hose ging. Nochmal 30 Punkte weg. Das alles zusammen war dann des guten zuviel und so wurde ich dieses Mal “nur” zweiter.

Den Abschluss der WM Vorbereitung bildete dann gleich wieder nur eine Woche später die Landesmeisterschaft LV5&7. Auch hier musste ich im Prematch schiessen, da ich am Matchsamstag leider nicht konnte. Eigentlich ist das normalerweise nicht möglich, aber der LV7 machte eine Ausnahme “als Beitrag zur WM Vorbereitung” – nochmals vielen Dank hierfür! Nachdem Karl Hamann einen Service in Rekordzeit hingelegt hatte (eine Woche für Lauf zurück setzen und Abzug überarbeiten), konnte ich einen letzten Test mit dem Ersatzrevolver schiessen. Dieses Mal klappte alles und ich konnte auch dieses Match gewinnen.

So. Nun gilt es also – übermorgen geht es zur WM nach Florida… Ich bin jetzt schon mächtig aufgeregt. Das Kribbeln im Bauch nimmt von Tag zu Tag zu und ich möchte jetzt eigentlich nur noch, dass das Match endlich los geht! Nachdem ich beim letzten Mal ja nur denkbar knapp an einer Medaille vorbeigeschrammt bin, möchte ich es dieses Mal natürlich unbedingt besser machen. Ob es gelingt? Wir werden sehen… stay tuned…;-)

After a first try with a short practice session on 25m and some shots zeroing at 300m, I can say, that it works! No big improvement compared to the Arredondo, but also not worse. Subjective feels reducing the upwards throwback little bit better. But this is only subjective. Side by side test between two identical rifles should be done. But it looks good and works fine. -> will stay on 😉 (let’s see, how long…)

 

First one – since several years, I’m using Dillon reloading presses to reload my handgun ammo. First one was a RL550B, in between, I´m using a XL650. Since a few weeks, I faced the problem, that several primers got crushed while seated to the empty case. Some even ignited! Luckily, nothing severe happened. I tried a lot. Cleaned, adjusted etc. I couldn’t  find the reason why. At the IWA, I told this a member of the Dillon staff at the Dillon booth. He promised me, t0 send me some spare parts for replacement. I only had to pay the shipment to Germany. As I had already booked a trip to Florida on Easter, where I had planned to buy some accessories and tools from Dillon, this matched perfect. I sent my order with my credit card information shortly before the trip to him and in Florida, I received a big parcel full of replacement parts and my additionally ordered things. I only had to pay for the tools and accessories. No shipment or anything else. At home again, I replaced nearly the whole primer seating unit. adjusted it and tried again – It works perfect now again! Thanks dillonprecision.com!

Second example for outstanding customer service was Timney: Also from this trip to Florida, I brought a Timney AR15 trigger home. Installed it here to my rifle following the instructions. But I had to figure out, that it seemed, that I lost the set screws to secure the trigger. Not knowing which size and measure they are, I wrote a short email to the Timney customer service asking the measures. I received an answer with the measures shortly afterwards. I answered: “thanks for your fast reply, appreciate it very much. Let’s see, if I can find them here…” Only a while later, I received two emails from Timney again – one from the customer service and one from tech service: “Good morning, we would be then happy to send you the screws, email me your address and I can stick them in the mail. ” and “We would be happy to send you some replacements.” No question why, just the offer to send me free (!) replacements. This is outstanding!

Good experiences should be told!
